The Houston Dynamo have swung a trade with Toronto FC that could allow them to sign free agent defender DaMarcus Beasley. Houston has completed a deal for the top spot in the MLS allocation order in exchange for midfielder Warren Creavalle, the 14th allocation spot and allocation money. According to MLSsoccer.coms Darrell Lovell, the Dynamo will use the top allocation spot to sign the American national, Beasley. Beasley is currently a free agent, his previous contract with Mexican club Puebla having elapsed. However, were he to make a return to the MLS, he would be subject to the allocation process. The Dynamo were previously 14th in the allocation order, hence their need to trade up in the queue to secure the 32-year-olds services. Beasley just participated in his fourth FIFA World Cup, becoming the first American to appear in four tournaments. He played in all four of the U.S. matches at the tournament. He has 17 international goals, amassing 120 career caps. The signing was made official, Beasley released a statement on his move to Houston. "I am excited and ready to start this new chapter in my career," Beasley said in a statement. "I have heard great things from Brad (Davis) and Rico (Clark) about Houston, the team and the fans, and Im excited to get to know them. I feel fit and ready to go and hope Dom (coach Dominic Kinnear) will see my work ethic and desire to play at a high level." Creavalle, 23, has appeared in 16 games with the Dynamo this season, starting 10. He has appeared in 54 career MLS games with the Dynamo over three seasons, notching three goals. He appeared in five MLS Cup Playoff games with the Dynamo in 2013. "Warren is a player that we have been watching closely for some time now and we feel his versatility will be a welcomed addition to our club," Toronto GM Tim Bezbatchenko said. "Houston expressed interest in switching allocation positions so combined with our interest in Warren this move was a win-win for both clubs." Beasley has a history with MLS, though he has not played in the league since 2004. He broke into the league with the Los Angeles Galaxy in 1999 before spending four years with the Chicago Fire. He has spent his subsequent years overseas, spending three years with PSV Eindhoven, a loan spell with Manchester City, three seasons with Scottish side Rangers as well as three years with Germanys Hannover 96. He has been with Puebla since 2011. Head coach Dominic Kinnear of Houston said that "DaMarcus has had a great career, as we saw at the World Cup, to bring in a player of his quality is a big plus for the team."
